With his catchy compositions, charming honesty, and relentless tour schedule, Jonathan Richman has spent over thirty years of his life earning the reverence of international fans and fellow musicians alike. His songs are at once both straightforward and timeless, capturing our humanity in optimism and dark emotions, bundled up in a sense of humor that rejects a culture of cynicism. While the Modern Lovers, the group he formed in the early 1970s, had a raw and minimalist sound that became part of the foundation for punk rock. However, his later work became gentler and began to incorporate sounds from doo-wop to country, as well as international styles, while still making way for his personality to shine through. Jonathan has worked both with bands and as a solo artist, but these days he plays as a duo with drummer Tommy Larkins.

Jonathan Richman began playing guitar at the age of 15, and formed the Modern Lovers in the early 1970s, inadvertently shaping the sound of punk in its early years. Their debut album, featuring the European top five single "Road Runner," became a modern music touchstone. When the 1990s finally rolled around, Richman found his audience growing with the aid of frequent guest spots on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, an appearance in the 1998's There's Something About Mary, and the classic children's television show Sesame Street adopting the Modern Lovers' songs "Ice Cream Man" and "I'm A Little Airplane." Richman is still touring the world tirelessly, looking for new places to play, and releasing new music. His latest, O Moon, was released by Vapor Records in 2010.
